AI qualification - Writing an Ideal Client Profile

Written by Vadym O

The Ideal Client Profile (ICP) is a plain-English description of the clients this scanner should win. AI Qualification uses it as the scanner's north star: if a job's client clearly does not fit, the job loses points and is less likely to be bid on.

How it affects the score

  • Client fits the profile: the job keeps its normal score. A good fit is not a bonus.

  • Client clearly contradicts the profile: the job loses a fixed penalty from its final score, and its AI reasoning shows "Client does not match the scanner's Ideal Client Profile".

  • Not enough information in the job to judge: no penalty.

  • ICP left empty: jobs are scored exactly as before.

The ICP only applies to the scanner where you write it. Adding an ICP does not turn AI Qualification on by itself and does not add any charge.

How to add it

  1. Open the scanner and go to the AI Qualification tab.

  2. Type your profile in the Ideal Client Profile box (up to 2,000 characters).

  3. Save.

What to write

Describe who the client is, not what the job is. Good things to include:

  • Type of company and industry (B2B SaaS, e-commerce brand, healthcare startup)

  • Company size or stage (10 to 200 people, funded startup, established business)

  • Region, if it matters to you

  • Kind of engagement you want (ongoing product work, long-term partnership)

  • Who is not a fit (one-off tasks, agencies reselling work, crypto projects)

Example:

US or EU B2B SaaS startups (10 to 200 people) with verified payment, a history of hiring, and budgets of $5k+ for ongoing product work. Not a fit: one-off tasks, agencies reselling work, crypto.

Tips

  • Be specific. "Good clients" gives the AI nothing to compare against.

  • Always add a "Not a fit" line. Clear contradictions are what trigger the penalty.

  • Exact numbers like budget, hourly rate, client location, payment verified, spend or hire rate are best set in the scanner's Jobs and Client filters. Those are exact and free, and the ICP is better used for things only reading can judge.

  • If you want a job skipped completely, not just scored lower, use a Hard Filter instead.
