What is the Portfolio Selector?
The Portfolio Selector lets you hand-pick up to 20 portfolio items—per scanner—that Sardor AI or Laziza AI can quote when it writes proposals for you. Skip the step and the system falls back to using all or none of portfolio pieces (depending on the old behavior that a user had before introducing this manual selection).
Why use it?
Benefit | What it means for you |
More control | Spotlight only the most relevant case studies for each niche or client type. |
Greater transparency | See exactly which items the model reviews before it drafts a pitch. |
Cleaner context | Leaner prompts help the model stay on-topic and within token limits, improving proposal quality. |
Who can enable it?
Any account running a scanner with Auto-Bidder ON and either the Sardor or Laziza bidding algorithm.
How to set it up (2 minutes)
Open Scanners → Settings and pick the scanner you’d like to edit.
Toggle Auto-Bidder > choose Sardor or Laziza if you haven’t already.
Click Portfolio Selector.
Use the drop-downs to choose a Team → Freelancer → Profile (the list refreshes each time).
Tick the portfolio items you’d like to include—up to 20.
Save. That’s it! New proposals from this scanner will now reference only those items.
Tip: Want to go back to “all items”? Open the selector, click Clear selection, then Save.
What happens under the hood?
When you save, GigRadar compresses the chosen profile + portfolio snippets and stores them as fast-load context. If we can’t fetch or compress that data three times in 24 hours, the scanner pauses itself and you (plus our engineers) get a heads-up email so nothing fires with missing context.
If a freelancer profile gets deleted
You’ll see a red “Profile not found” badge in scanner settings. Pick a new profile (or edit the old one) and click Save to resume bidding.
Troubleshooting
Symptom | Fix |
Portfolio list is empty | Confirm the freelancer’s Upwork profile still has published portfolio items. |
Scanner disabled: “Compressed profile not found” | Re-open Portfolio Selector, re-select items, and save. |
Still stuck? | Chat with support and share the scanner ID shown in the error banner. |
FAQ
Can I select zero items?
Yes. The bidder will rely on other parts of the profile (skills, overview, etc.) without attaching a portfolio.
Does changing the portfolio bump my prompt version?
If your scanner was on an older Sardor prompt that didn’t include freelancer context, selecting items automatically upgrades it to the newest version—no extra clicks.
Do selected items end up as "proposal highlights"?
No, unfortunately Upwork does not support attaching "proposal highlights" from business manager side, which limits GigRadar's capabilities.
