When publishing a job post on Upwork, clients use different descriptions and the length of the descriptions differ. It is important to consider the job description length when sending a bid.

Using GigRadar you can set up your scanner to search for jobs based on the description length. Typically, jobs with the most concise summary are preferred than very short one-liner descriptions or very lengthy descriptions. If you want to target jobs that have a specific length, you can do that as follows:

  1. From your GigRadar account, click on the Scanners tab.

  2. Select the scanner to which you want to apply the filter.

  3. Go to the scanner’s Project Preferences by clicking on the Project filter.

  4. In the Description Preferences field, select one or all of the following description size options:

    • Below average (0 - 50 words): Select this option if you want to find job posts with short description. These clients are typically very concise with what they need for the project.

    • Average (50 - 110 words): Select this option if you want to find job posts with an average length description. These clients are typically detailed about what they need, and this gives the freelancer enough information to include in the proposal.

    • Above average (110 and more words): Select this option if you want to find job posts that have a very lengthy description. These clients are typically detailed about what they need, and this gives the freelancer a lot of information to include in the proposal. However, such job posts could also be AI generated or copied and pasted from other sources.

  5. Click OK to save the filter settings.

💡 Tip: Check your scanner’s Preview Results to verify that the jobs that are displaying match the filters that you have applied. For more information, see 👀 Preview Results.
